The Arc’s national social enterprise, The Arc@Work, which provides job training and placement in the IT field to adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and The Arc of DC are hosting three Autumn Tech Events in October:
- The Train the Trainer Workshop,is for chapters interested in learning to implement The Arc @Work. The training costs $400. At the 4-day training (Oct. 10-13), chapter staff will:
- Learn and observe The Arc@Work’s assessment model
- Receive information and tools to replicate this workshop in your own community
- Meet, connect, and learn from your fellow chapters participating in The Arc@Work
- The Tech Informational Workshop and Assessment, is for self-advocates with ASD interested in careers in the IT field. If VR is not able to pay, the Workshop & Assessment costs $250. The 1-day workshop (Oct. 12, 9:00am-3:00pm), will provide:
- An assessment of participants’ IT skills, and skills in teamwork, and communication
- Opportunities to talk to chapters of The Arc and learn how to enroll in their job services
- Tips from companies on getting a job
- Participation in the Train the Trainer Workshopor the Tech Informational Workshop and Assessment includes an invitation to our free Neuro-diversity Reception, (Oct. 12, 5:30pm-8:00pm), which will convene corporations and federal contractors local to DC, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as self-advocates and chapter staff participating in the two workshops.
