Here are 3 things you need to know about the RISE Act that’s in Congress now:
1. The Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower (RISE) Act works to ensure Individuals with disabilities thrive in College.
2. 19% of undergraduate students report having a disability.
3. The RISE Act has three main focuses-
Accommodations: The bill requires institutions to accept an IEP or 504 Plan, as well as other records, as sufficient documentation to establish that such individual is an individual with a disability.
Information: This Bill requires institutions to submit key data related to undergraduate students with disabilities
Training and Support: This bill authorizes $10 million towards the National Center for Information and Technical Support for Postsecondary Students with Disabilities.
